December?

I can't believe it's December. Where did the summer and fall go?  Our lives have been standing still for the past couple of months because of my back injury and Scarlett's long hospital stay. 

Scarlett's back is slowly starting to heal. It's looking better with every dressing change. She is also still adjusting to her trach. We continue to take things one day at a time. 

My back is still causing me a lot of pain. I had a third MRI and it showed that I herniated another disk (L5/S1) in my back. It also showed that I reherniated L4/L5. I met with my Orthopedic Surgeon and he recommended that I have surgery. I have actually consulted with two surgeons and they both said that surgery would be my best option. I haven't decided what I'm going to do. Caring for Scarlett has been even more challenging because of my back. I have really had to rely on our nurses to help with Scarlett's care. We have 8 amazing nurses that help us. I don't know what I would do without their help. I am going to get another steroid injection in my back next week to help with the pain.
