We have been so busy getting all of Scarlett's services set up. We have had several meetings with Cincinnati Children's StarShine Hospice Team. They have an amazing Palliative Care program. They are helping Scarlett get in-home Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing Visits and Massage Therapy. Last week Scarlett got her first massage and she loved it. LOVED IT! StarShine also has a Child Life Specialist. They visited us last week and brought a bunch of fun memory making activities. They gathered information about Scarlett's favorite things and are going to make a special song for her. How cool is that?!? We should get it in 4 to 6 weeks. It's called "Songs of Love." They also brought over a garden stone kit. We took imprints of Scarlett's hands and feet. I will post some pictures of her garden stone once we decorate it.
I almost forgot to mention that Scarlett got her GJ tube replaced at the hospital. She did really well during the procedure. They allowed me to come back and keep her comfortable. I felt so honored that I got to stay with her the entire time. I didn't have to pitch a fit or ask for any special favors. Cincinnati Children's is known for their "Family-Centered Care Philosophy." They believe that physicians, patients and their families should work together. We watched some of her favorite movies on her I Pad. We also played with stickers. It was over before she knew it. I'm so proud of her for being so brave.
