Botox???

We saw Scarlett's Pediatrician and ENT yesterday. We still don't know what exactly is causing her eye-rolling and pain. They suspect she's having a bad reaction to the Botox injections that she had 3-weeks-ago. They can't say for sure but it would make sense that the Botox is to blame. We are giving her pain medication and an anti-inflammatory to make her more comfortable. We are heading back to the hospital tomorrow for an EEG which will tell us if she's having seizures. We will hopefully have more answers tomorrow. If the EEG comes back negative for seizures then we will probably have a GI consult. We could also give her more pain medication and hope that it will resolve on it's own once the Botox wears off.

I did a lot of research and consulted with all of Scarlett's physicians before having the Botox procedure. They all agreed that we should give it a try. I knew that there were risks but I believed that it would help her. I thought it would help her to manage her secretions. It has done more harm than good. It did dry up her secretions but it also completely paralyzed the lower half of her face. She can no longer smile or chew on her favorite p-toy. She used to curl her upper lip like Elvis. It was so cute. The only positive thing about Botox is that it's temporary. I don't know how long it will take to wear off. I can only hope and pray that her smile returns.
