Yesterday was another long day. We had a GI appointment at the hospital. We discussed treatment options for c-diff and scheduled her GJ tube replacement through Interventional Radiology.
She had a hard time waking up yesterday. She was having sinus issues. Here she is riding in her van to the hospital. Grandpa drove us. He's always so careful not to hit dips in the road and he takes the turns really slow.
Our GI doc was about an hour and a half late. Luckily we ran into some friends at the hospital to help us pass the time. Scarlett's Aunt Wendy works at the hospital and happened to walk by us. It was such a fun surprise. Scarlett is wearing a mask because we had to wait in a germy area. I know I can't protect her from everything but it doesn't hurt to be as careful as possible.
Scarlett made two new friends while waiting to see her GI doc. Emma and Nick. They are brother and sister. They have SMA Type 1 as well. I've been trying to plan a play date with them for almost a year and it finally happened. They happened to be waiting to see the GI doctor as well. Scarlett had so much fun watching them zip around in their power wheelchairs. I hope to plan an official date with them soon.
Scarlett looked so cute in her mask. I had to snap another picture.
The entire trip today took about FIVE hours. I don't know why but these follow-up visits take so long. After the appointment, I charged & disinfected all of her medical equipment, stocked her wheelchair medical supplies, gave her a warm bath and then did her nighttime respiratory treatments. I thought she would be exhausted like me but she wasn't. She didn't go to sleep until after midnight. Where does that girl get her energy? I guess I'm getting old. Hahaha... Here she is bright eyed at 10pm...
We have another busy day today. We have an appointment at the Neuromuscular Clinic. Wish us luck!
