Orthopedist

We made another trip to Childrens to see an Orthopedist. Grandpa drove us so I could sit in the back with Scarlett. The Orthopedist confirmed that Scarlett's scoliosis has gotten worse. Her curve when lying down is 33. When sitting up it's 50. He said that she would be a good candidate for VEPTR (vertical expandable prosthetic titanium rib). The VEPTR device would help the spine become straighter and allow the lungs to grow and to fill with enough air to breathe. We are not going to do the surgery anytime soon. It is a major surgery with benefits and risks. He is just giving us the information so we can start researching and thinking about it. For now, he wrote us a new prescription for a TLSO to see if that might give her a little more support.

Looking all around in the van.
Hi Mom!  Are we there yet?
Getting ready to see the doctor.  She is tapping her right index finger in the picture.  I'm sure she was thinking, "I don't have all day."  Tap...Tap...Tap...  Ha!
The Birthday Fairy came early and brought her a pair of shoes!  Aren't they so-oh adorable?  I want a pair!
